Airborne Laser scanning ◄ back to applications A laser beam sweeps over the surface and illuminates all objects with more than 10,000 pulses per second. Reflected light is detected by a digital camera system. The exact position and orientation of the camera combined with the time and run- time of the laser light is recorded. The concentration of the laser pulse can be varied from a single dot up to dozends of dots per squaremeter. The resolution achieved is from 3 - 50 cm. For very high resolution images special cameras with up to 150,000 measurements per second are available. Surface characteristics of the scanned object can be computed. On the sensor side STEMME is cooperating with one of the leading provider of laser scanning systems: TerraImaging B.V. from the Netherlands. Since 1994 TerraImaging is in the scanning business and has collected expert knowledge in various fields of laser systems and analysing software. Creating a digital world For the ever growing need for digital data of our environment there is a perfect solution: Airborne laser-scanning. Computing the recorded data with special software produces a three dimensional digital replica of the scanned area. more information
